Small print, read aloud

Do you quote before you start?

Always, in writing, fixed. You approve the number before a screw turns, and if the job turns out smaller than quoted, the invoice is smaller too.

What about materials?

We buy at trade prices and pass them on at cost plus 10%. Receipts come through with the invoice.

How soon can you come?

Usually within the fortnight. A door that won't lock or a gate that won't shut gets bumped up the list — tell us when you write.

Is there a job too small?

If it's on your list and it's the kind of thing we fix, no. The smallest job in the book this year was a single drawer runner — nine minutes, and the client made us tea.
